Featured Artist - Helen Bruce

About Helen

Auckland-based artist, Helen Bruce, finds inspiration for her Celtic-inspired artworks in her British heritage, in Gothic and fantasy art, and in the music of Enya, Nightwish and Marilyn Manson. Her home studio is full of her pencil drawings, canvases, easels, art materials and works in progress. Her current mixed media paintings incorporate pumice stone paste with acrylic paint to give texture and depth.

Born in Manchester, England, Helen moved to New Zealand with her family when she was eight years old. Art was her favourite subject in school, and after leaving secondary school she worked for many years in the sign-writing industry. Then, once her daughters were older, Helen decided to study art via distance education. Her artwork has since received merit awards in exhibitions at Mairangi Arts Centre, and sold through galleries, exhibitions, as well as online.
